How Meta Rates Your WhatsApp Business Number
Meta assigns each WhatsApp Business number a quality rating: green (high quality), orange (medium quality), and red (low quality). This rating reflects how customers respond to the messages sent from that number. If you are repeatedly reported as spam, the quality rating will decrease.
In Saysimple, this is important because the quality rating can affect how many new conversations your connected WhatsApp number can start, and it may also lead to a Meta block.
What does the rating mean?
The quality rating reflects how recent messages from your WhatsApp Business number have been received by customers. Meta bases this on recent message quality signals over the past 7 days.
A strong rating usually means your messages are relevant and expected. A lower rating usually means customers are reacting negatively, for example by blocking or reporting messages.
Where can I find the rating?
You can find the rating in WhatsApp Manager in Meta.
Open the overview for your business phone numbers. There, Meta shows the status, quality rating, and messaging limits for each number. This is the right place to check if you want to understand whether your WhatsApp number is still performing well.
How does Meta show the ratings?
Meta displays the rating in three levels:
Green: High quality
Yellow: Medium quality
Red: Low quality
These levels indicate how healthy your messaging quality is at that moment. If the quality drops, Meta may also show a warning status for the number.
Whenever your business maintains a green quality you can become eligible for more features, such as increasing the messaging limit.
What are the causes of a low rating?
A low rating is usually the result of negative customer feedback on recent messages.
This can happen when:
customers receive messages they did not sign up for
messages are sent too often (spam)
the content is not relevant to the recipient
customers block or report the business
In most cases, a low rating is a sign that the message content, timing, or target audience needs attention.
What are the consequences of a low rating?
A low quality rating can affect your messaging limits. Messaging limits determine how many unique WhatsApp users your business can start conversations within the 24-hour window. If the quality of your number drops, Meta may limit growth in messaging capacity or apply restrictions to the number.
In Saysimple, this means that a low-quality rating on your connected WhatsApp number can directly affect your outbound WhatsApp communication. If your number quality drops, it is important to review your messaging approach and monitor the status in WhatsApp Manager.
Can you improve your rating again?
Yes, a low quality rating does not always have to be permanent. According to Meta, a phone number gets a Low-quality rating based on message quality signals over the past 7 days. If the message quality improves to Medium or High and stays there for 7 days, Meta will promote the quality rating to the average of this period.
This means your WhatsApp Business number can recover, but only if the quality of your recent messages improves consistently.
