How to Migrate Your WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) to Saysimple

If you're currently using the WhatsApp Business API with another Business Solution Provider (BSP), you can migrate your existing WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) to Saysimple without changing your phone number.

The migration is managed by Meta and allows you to keep your existing WhatsApp Business setup, including your phone number, display name, message templates, and messaging reputation.

What Is a WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) Migration?

A WhatsApp Business Account migration transfers your WhatsApp phone number and business account from one Business Solution Provider (BSP) to another.

When you migrate to Saysimple, your customers continue using the same WhatsApp number while Saysimple becomes your new WhatsApp Business Platform provider.

What Is Transferred During the Migration?

When you migrate your WABA to Saysimple, you keep:

  • ✅ Your existing WhatsApp phone number

  • ✅ Your approved Display Name

  • ✅ Your Official Business Account (green checkmark), if applicable

  • ✅ Your approved WhatsApp message templates

  • ✅ Your messaging limits

  • ✅ Your messaging quality rating

This allows you to continue communicating with customers without creating a new WhatsApp presence or reapplying for your existing business profile.

Before You Start

Before starting the migration, make sure you have:

  • Administrator access to your Meta Business Portfolio

  • Access to the phone number you're migrating (to receive the verification code)

  • Administrator access to your current BSP, if required

  • Two-Step Verification (2FA) disabled for the WhatsApp phone number

Important: The migration cannot proceed while Two-Step Verification is enabled.

WABA Migration Step by Step

Step 1. Disable Two-Step Verification (2FA)

If Two-Step Verification is enabled on your WhatsApp Business Account, disable it before starting the migration.

You can do this through:

  • Your current Business Solution Provider (BSP)

  • Meta WhatsApp Manager

Once disabled, Meta will send a confirmation email.

After the migration is complete, you can safely enable Two-Step Verification again.

Step 2. Start the Migration in Saysimple

Begin the WhatsApp onboarding process in Saysimple and choose the option to connect an existing WhatsApp Business Account.

You'll be redirected to Meta's official Embedded Signup process.

Sign in using your Facebook account and select the same Meta Business Portfolio that currently owns your WhatsApp Business Account.

Step 3. Create the New WhatsApp Business Account

During the migration, Meta will ask you to create a new WhatsApp Business Account that will be managed through Saysimple.

Although a new WABA is created in the background, your existing WhatsApp phone number is transferred to it.

When prompted, enter exactly the same Display Name that is already approved for your current WhatsApp Business Account. This helps ensure a smooth migration.

Step 4. Transfer Your WhatsApp Phone Number

Enter the phone number you want to migrate.

Meta will recognize that the number is currently registered with another provider and ask you to confirm the transfer.

To verify ownership, Meta will send a One-Time Password (OTP) via SMS or voice call.

Enter the verification code to complete the migration.

Step 5. Complete the Setup

After the migration is finished, Saysimple will finalize the connection to your WhatsApp Business Account.

If required:

  • Configure your Meta payment method or credit line.

  • Re-enable Two-Step Verification (2FA) to secure your account.

Your WhatsApp Business Account is now ready to use in Saysimple.

WABA Migration: Important information

Temporary Service Interruption

During the migration, your WhatsApp number will be temporarily unavailable. In most cases, the downtime lasts between 15 and 60 minutes, although Meta may occasionally require more time.

For the best customer experience, schedule the migration during periods of low messaging activity.

Chat History is NOT Migrated

Only your WhatsApp Business Account configuration is transferred. The following items are not migrated:

  • Chat history

  • Historical conversations

  • Active conversations

  • Conversation analytics stored by your previous provider

If you need access to previous conversations, export them from your current BSP before starting the migration.

Meta Billing and Credit Line

If your WhatsApp Business Account uses Meta monthly invoicing (credit line), it may take until the next billing cycle for the credit line to appear under Saysimple. This is expected behavior and is managed directly by Meta.
